There are tons of scholarships available simply for being black. White people have to work harder for scholarships.
Find me one scholarship that people can get “simply for being Black” and I’ll pay…
Can I just say.. “fuck all of you, i’m asian”? White/Black people complaining about school related racism…. rotflcopter. Worrying about scholarships? Before we even get to that point, asians have to do better then a white/black/whatever kid to get the same spot. Top colleges limit the amount of asians they let in to promote “diversity”.
I’ve pretty much gotten so sick of the racism on tumblr. Black people being racist to white people. Asians being racist towards Hispanic people, Whites being racist to… everyone? If there is a kind of racism, you will find it on tumblr. And i’m fucking tired of it. We are all internet nerds~~ Can’t we just get along and not hate eachother. I mean, I go through enough racism in my daily life (Being ching chonged at work, then being told by “friends” that since i’m half white my asian side doesn’t count) to want to go through this shit on the place I come to relax.
I have probably more stories then anyone I know about racism. I was discriminated against in Korea for being half white, I’ve been discriminated in the US for being asian. Hell i’ve even been discriminated against for being hispanic… and i’m not even hispanic. When I was a kid in Korea, I was actually physically beaten by some drunken middle aged man because I had “dirty blood”. When I was in middle school my “friends” made me sit on the floor next to the table because they didn’t want to eat at the same table with a chink. I’ve been told I had a strong Korean accent, or that people “can’t understand that ching chong shit” despite the fact that i’ve lived in the US for around 17 of my 23 years. So I know a little something about racism. And with my knowledge, I can see there is a shitton of it on tumblr. And a suprising amount of it comes from blogs that claim they want to overcome racism. Yup. Uh-huh. You want to overcome racism… by making fun of white people. Yup. I see the equality blossoming already.
If you want to educate white people of their privilege that’s fine. It’s actually good. If you want to get up on your box and shout to the world, or merely calmly research and disperse your gained knowledge thats fine as well. But if you try and do it by mocking others… you’re just another racist shitbag.
And by people, I mean a lot of the dumb fucks that run blogs like “thisisnotkorea” ”thisisnotjapan” etc. Honestly a lot of the blogs that claim to fight racism, are actually racist as fuck. I was reading thisisnotkorea, and I thought it was a joke blog, but as I kept reading… that fucker is serious. And when I started on thisisnotjapan… roflcopter. Being a POC does have disadvantages. There are times when white people need to be told to “check their privelge”. But that doesn’t mean that being mean to white people is ok. And if you do think it’s ok… that doesn’t make you a crusader for asian rights. It just makes you a douche.
This is kind of contradictory because I am using foul language, and the overall tone of this post is harsh, but haven’t these people ever heard that you draw more flies with honey then vinegar? If someone does something that you consider as a mistake, or racist, but does not seem to be purposefully antagonizing, then correct them kindly. If they are doing it to make you feel bad, then you can open the can of whoopass. But if not, then you are just being a jackass.
Also, white people jokes = not ok on a blog about getting rid of racism. If you are normal blog, go ahead. I makes jokes about whites, asians, hispanics, arabs, everyone but black people… i’m scared of them…. There is a time and a place for everything, and if you want people to take you seriously, then that kind of thing isn’t really fitting. It just makes the whole tone of the blog less serious. And not in a “this is a blog against racism, but its still fun and funny~” way, but in a “this blog is a joke” way.
This post isn’t solely pointed at the two blogs I named in the beginning, but rather at them, and the multitude of blogs like them. Sorry if I came off the the “blog police” telling people how to run their blogs as well, but I just really felt the need to say it.
Also, so people don’t think i’m a butthurt white boy, i’ll write a little bio: Half Korean half American (it’s all mixed up. Mostly white, but i’ve heard I do have a few black ancestors. My family has been here on my dads side since colonial times.” Most people think i’m some kind of hispanic. I was raised in the Korean community, and actually lived in Korea till I was 5 or so. I also minored in asian studies, and until recently majored in Human Services with the intent to work helping recent immigrants. So yea… no butthurt white boy here.
You can be any race, or gender/sex. You can be a part of any religion or community. You can come from any spot in the globe. I will treat you how you act around me, and that means I may offend you. I don’t think I should have to walk on egg shells around someone just because they’re black, Christian, gay, or from Iran. If something I say offends you, get over it.
I will be as racist, sexist, or whatever you call it all I want. It’s not like I’m saying “I hate X” or “I think that Ys are horrible and should die”. Most of the time, I’m just cracking jokes about how my male friends need to get back into the garage and fix my car.
If we can say it about ourselves, others should be allowed to say it about us. And vise versa.
oh but you’re wrong
making racist and sexist remarks is the exact same thing as saying “i hate x.” you’re saying “i don’t care about your history of oppression/persecution/genocide at the hands of people like me.” you’re saying “i don’t care that i benefit immensely from the way that people like me set up the world to work in my favor, even though it’s on other people’s backs.” it’s more than just remarks offending people.
I just want to say. I’m half asian. I’ve been cursed at, spit on, and physically hit. In second grade I had to change teachers, because the teachers discrimination was bad enough the school felt they had to intervene. I’ve had parents of friends tell me that i’m not allowed to play with their children. I’ve heard “ching chong” more times then I can count, then had asian friends make fun of me for being white. I’ve been denied service in resturants. I’ve been told I have to pick one race, or that “you can’t be half korean. you are either a korean or your not.” Basically if there is a form of discrimination… i’ve felt it.
And do you know what i’ve learned about discrimination? Mocking it is the best way to make it into nothing. If someone tries to make me feel bad about my race(s), i’ll just say. “Yup! I am a chinky ass cracker~” And I also make jokes about other peoples races. Not to harm them, or make them feel bad, but just to make it seem like it’s not a big deal. Like it or not, ethnicity is a big part of almost everyones lives.
Also, honestly… even more then the people who tried outright to insult me, I usually felt more insulted by the people that were overly accepting. It just makes me feel pathetic, and there is usually a distinct lack of sincerity. I would much rather have someone call me a dirty mixed blood, then try to make me feel “special”.
Finally, I dislike the idea of “politcal correctness” it just bothers me to have to watch my words in case it might offend someone. If it’s someone I care about, then I might worry about it. But if it’s just some stranger on the street/internet IDGAF~ My question is… why are you so concerned about what a complete stranger has to say? You could learn from it, or think it’s annoying, but only an idiot would let it personally offend them. There are huge amounts of people that will really hate you for whatever reason (skin color, religion, ethnicity, etc) but you are worried about people who are just joking around?
Finally, not to be too much of a creeper, but I went to the person I reblogged this froms? (Is froms a word? Do I need an apostrophe?) blog, and found out they are named Kaidy, and they are from Canada. So i’m guess a white girl. What does a white woman have to say about this race related topic anyway. She just needs to get her privileged cracker ass back to the kitchen, so she can make me a sandwich.

I don’t give a fuck if you are white, black, asian, hispanic, or a fucking eskimo. The fuck is wrong with racist people. All people, no matter what, are just that. FUCKING PEOPLE! There is no race of people that are somehow intrinsically better then others. Every race has geniuses and idiots, kind people and evil people, athletes and people that have two left hands and feet.
The author of this article is pretty obviously biased. But if the core of what he said is true… then the Board of Education, the PTA, the normal parents, and every adult associated with the school should be ashamed of themselves.
I feel like this could have been so easily prevented. That kid should never have been attacked, and the kids who tried to burn him shouldn’t have been exposed to the kind of environment that molded them into people that would light another person on fire.
(Edit: The stuff about the kid getting on fire for being white is true. It’s the school stuff that is iffy. This is the only report I found about that, and the case as a whole only had about 6-7 reports written about it, most of them local news)
Muslim people are just that… people. They aren’t all terrorists out to take over the world. They aren’t evil. I think a lot of people view them as some weird caricature of what they really are. Just like you can’t look at Fred Phelps or Joesph Kony and say that’s how all Christians are, you can’t look at Bin Laden and say that’s how all Muslims are.
Don’t judge people on their religion (or lack of it). Look at their actions, and the possible reasons for them to do those actions before you react to them.
….why?
